Moving & settling in guides

Planning a move in Cyprus: what to ask movers and what to sort out before moving day.

Moving home in Cyprus usually takes more planning than booking a van. Many moves are within or between Larnaca, Limassol, Nicosia and Paphos, often from flats with narrow stairwells, small lifts or no parking outside, with furniture that has to be taken apart to fit. Others are people arriving on the island, who also need the electricity, water and internet set up in their own name.

These guides explain what removal companies need to know to quote accurately, from floor levels, lift access and parking to large or fragile items, so that the quotes you get can be compared like for like. They also cover what to do in the weeks before, whether you need to be there on the day, and what to ask about insurance for your belongings during the move.

Settling in has its own list. The electricity account is usually with the EAC. Mains water comes from the district's ΕΟΑ, or from the community council in some villages, and rubbish collection and local rules are set by your municipality or community. If you are leaving a rental, plan the move-out clean and small repairs, such as filling wall-plug holes, before the final inspection, and photograph each room when you hand back the keys.
