Terms of use

Ergo is operated by Scality Ltd (reg. no. HE459172, VAT CY60062286C), Attikis 3, 401, Larnaca Center, 6045 Larnaca, Cyprus (“we”). These terms apply when you use Ergo to request quotes. Professionals who receive requests are bound by separate Terms for professionals. How we use your data is explained in our Privacy policy.

1. What we do and don’t do

• Ergo is an introduction service. You describe a job, and we email it to independent local professionals (3 by default, never more than 5) who can contact you with a quote.
• We are not a party to any agreement between you and a professional. We do not carry out, supervise, coordinate or guarantee any work, and we never take payment for it. You agree the price, timing and conditions with the professional and pay them directly. Your rights as a consumer for the work (for example under the Cyprus Consumer Protection Law 112(I)/2021) are against the professional.

2. It’s free for you

Requesting quotes is free and creates no obligation to hire anyone. We never take a commission on the job price. Joining is free for professionals during launch. We may introduce fees for professionals later, with at least 30 days’ notice, and they will apply only after the professional accepts them. Any such fee will not affect which professionals are matched.

3. How we choose professionals

We don’t show a ranked list. We send your request to 3 professionals by default, never more than 5. The main criteria are: the professional offers the service you chose and covers your city; their account is active; they have capacity that week; and a fair rotation so that professionals with fewer recent requests go first. Founding professionals may see a request up to 30 minutes before others. Nobody can pay to receive your request ahead of others; if paid placement is ever offered, we will label it clearly as paid.

4. What we check about professionals

We confirm each professional’s identity and business contact details before they can receive requests. We do not inspect their work or guarantee their quality, licences or insurance. Before hiring, please check their qualifications and any required licence (for example for electrical, gas or AC work), insurance, reviews and a written quote.

5. Using Ergo

• Give accurate details and only submit requests you genuinely intend to consider, for property you are entitled to have work done on.
• Only submit your own contact details. Don’t include sensitive information (such as health details) or other people’s personal data in descriptions or photos.
• No spam, unlawful, offensive or misleading content, automated submissions, scraping, or attempts to disrupt or bypass the security checks.
• We may refuse, remove or stop sharing a request that breaks these rules. If we do, we will tell you why using the contact details you gave, unless it is clearly spam.

6. Reporting a problem

Tell us at hello@ergocy.com if a professional behaves inappropriately, misuses your details, or if you see illegal content on Ergo. Please include what happened, who was involved and how to reach you. We will look into it promptly, may restrict the professional’s account, and will tell you what we decided and why.

7. Liability

We provide Ergo with reasonable care and skill, but we cannot guarantee that a professional will contact you or be available. We are not responsible for the work, conduct, prices or results of professionals, who are independent businesses. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Cyprus or EU law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Complaints

Email hello@ergocy.com and we will reply within 14 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Consumer Protection Service of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of Cyprus, or use the courts.

9. Law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the mandatory protections of that country’s law and can bring proceedings there. We may update these terms; the version on this page at the time you submit a request applies to that request.
